Be a GGS Leader
The Georgia Gerontology Society (GGS) is led by a 20-to-30 member board of directors and four officers: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. The board members each serve three-year terms and are eligible to serve two consecutive terms. The officers serve one-year terms. The Nominating committee is actively soliciting nominations for strong, committed leaders to serve on the board of directors and as officers for persons willing to be nominated for one of the four offices.

The nomination form must be completed by the individual wishing to serve as a GGS leader.  Though you do not have to be a member at the time of elections, if you are elected to serve, you must become a member and also meet to the following requirements:

  • Individual membership to GGS required
  • Ability to incur own expenses for travel, meals and conference registration
  • Availability to participate in board meetings and GGS functions
  • Willingness to serve on a minimum of one board committee and one annual conference committee
  • Commitment to recruit other GGS members
  • Flexibility to network among various professions and organizations specializing in aging issues
  • Participate in formulating creative ideas for the growth and development of GGS
  • Advocate on behalf of older Georgians
