Get Involved!

Ready to become more involved in the work of GGS? Here are some ways to take the next step.

    • Help Recruit New Members – GGS is trying to grow and diversify our members. We want to represent all aspects of gerontology. Help spread the word. Need talking points or materials? Email us for more information.
    • Consider Being a Mentor – We are rolling out a Mentorship program and are looking for mentors to help students and early career professionals. Learn More
    • Share Your Opinions – Have suggestions on what we should be doing differently? Want to recommend information for our Monthly Connector Newsletter? Know about an event or job listing we should include on the website? Let us know! Email us with your suggestions.
    • Volunteer at GGS Events – Keep an eye out for calls for volunteers at different GGS events, including the Annual Conference. These will be included in our Monthly Connector Newsletter.
    • Respond to Advocacy Alerts – If you are a GGS member and GGS has your residential address on file, you will receive advocacy alerts when your elected officials should be contacted on an issue. Need to update your information? Email administrator@georgiagerontologysociety.org.
    • Spread the Word – You can share events with your networks, let students and older adults know about our scholarships, nominate deserving individuals for awards or nominate someone for our board of directors.
    • The GGS Board of Directors conducts the work of GGS through committees. We currently have the following committees that are looking for additional volunteers from our membership: advocacy, membership, communications, education/training, scholarship, development , conference AV, and conference door prizes/silent auction. If you are interested in working with a committee, email administrator@georgiagerontologysociety.org for more information.
